One with Nature - by Nature and Knopp

Respect and love for nature form the basis for his work. When he speaks of trees, not only awe and a deep connection resonate, but also an irrepressible enthusiasm and joy. For Stefan, trees are more than a working material, wood more than a substance. Each tree's essence, power, and authenticity is preserved in an aesthetic way and brought to life in a new form. The more a tree has experienced, the more it can tell. Stefan hears the stories, wants to explore them, and writes them further. This forms the unique character of all his pieces. The peculiarities of each tree are worked out with craftsmanship and artistic standards, and great attention to detail.

The design of the surfaces shows his creativity and the art of playing that Stefan has preserved. He lets chance be part of his work. The change processes that the wood undergoes using natural resources inspire him: fire and water, two powerful elements. Their contrasts make them so exciting for Stefan: "Fire is destructive and creative at the same time. Water grinds and exposes," he says. He uses these features for his particular methods of surface treatment. He uses it to work out the story of a tree, presenting scenes of a previously hidden life. He gives his objects an extraordinary and very individual finish with pigments, resins, and natural oils.

Stefan learned carpentry and ran his own business in his birthplace Vienna until 2008. But the freedom-loving visionary is drawn to nature and he moves together with his family to the countryside north of Salzburg. There he sets up a workshop and gives the new space to his old passion, the wood. Here he conducts initial experiments with the elements of fire and water for the individual surface design. He has found his calling. He shares the joy with many enthusiastic people about his creations: Sustainable tables and residential objects. Stories of yesterday for today and tomorrow, for generations.
